The Gathering

This is a great activity for your family. Head to downtown Owasso and enjoy some music, grab some food at one of the food trucks and check out the booths. There are typically booths doing face painting, carnival games and other fun activities for the kids.

WHEN: Sunday, July 15 – Thursday July 21, 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m
This is a free event and is open to children age 4 (by June 1) through 6th grade (just completed). Your kids will enjoy crafts, games, music and a whole lot of fun as we gear up, get ready and Game On!

Wheels and Thrills of Owasso has an arcade, skating rink, laser tag and giant playground for the kids. It isn’t free, but watch their facebook page for special deals and events, like the Paw Patrol Meet and greet.

The splash pad near the YMCA at Rayola Park is a great FREE place to let your kids play and cool off. Take a couple bucks and get a snow cone while you are there as well. Collinsville also has a great park and splash pad with a little more shaded areas for the parents.

WHEN:The first three Thursday evenings in June at the newly remodeled Collinsville City Plaza
Enjoy either Ferdinand, Wonder or Robin Hood as the Collinsville Chamber of Commerce is brings back their popular, Outdoor Summer Movies for a fifth year this summer! The shows will begin at dusk. Concession items including drinks, chips, and candy will be available for purchase. Guests will need to bring their own chairs or blankets, as seating will not be provided.

Pick up some cheap sidewalk chalk and bubbles, it’s an inexpensive way to get the kids out of the house and get their creativity going. Throw a sprinkler in the yard for some extra fun.

Many people don’t think about taking your little ones to the Skate Park, but it can actually be a BLAST for your elementary age kids. Go for a hike
Oxley Nature Center & Redbud Valley Preserve

Visitors Center Open 11AM-3PM
This FREE activity is just a short drive from Owasso. The Oxley Nature Center is a great place to take the younger kids for an easy trail walk and to explore their fun nature center. It’s near the zoo.
The Redbud Valley Nature Preserve offers a rugged one mile trail that takes hikers through a variety of habitats, ranging from flood-plain forest and shady north-facing slopes to limestone bluffs and dry upland forest. Probably more suitable for older elementary kids.

Let the kids play at Funtastic Island playground, get a snow cone at the stand next to it and then stop by Atwoods on the way home. They usually have baby ducks & geese that you can look at and it’s just a fun store for kids to walk around in.

The Copper Kiln in Downtown Owasso offers a fun and unique way to explore your artistic side at a reasonable cost. They offer over 500 ceramic pieces to choose from, paints, paintbrushes and stencils. Great activity for those hot summer days. Check their FB Page for special kids events coming up.

Blue Whale

A short drive from Owasso is the iconic Blue Whale of Catoosa. While you can’t swim here, you can fish. Pack a picnic lunch and a couple fishing poles. This icon isn’t in as good of shape as it once was but younger kids would enjoy it.

We couldn’t leave this one off of the list. It’s a very short drive from Owasso and for only $8.00 child admission this is a GREAT way to spend a day. If you haven’t been with your kids to the zoo, put it on the calendar for this summer.
